House Parent Couple
Job Posting
Inner Hope Youth Ministries is a Christian non-profit rooted in our understanding that healing is experienced in relationship. We are committed to journeying alongside our community in East Vancouver nurturing hope, belonging and growth and desire to see youth and their families living healthy lives and empowered in a good way. We are dedicated to being a loving community that values integrity, reconciliation between non-Indigenous and Indigenous people and developing trusted, long-term relationship guided by our Christian faith. For this reason, it is essential that our programming team steward their relationships with a person-centred and trauma-informed approach. We are seeking a dynamic couple to fill the role of House Parents for Inner Hope’s housing program. This is a live-in ministry opportunity for a married couple who thrive in life-on-life ministry.
We recognize that invitation is an integral part of any relationship. A unique feature of our housing program, is that family connections are intentionally nurtured and valued. Our Home is designed for long-term stays to offer youth and young adults who are seeking support, structure and accountability in their lives the opportunity to heal, learn, grow and increase their stability. Our House Parents foster a supportive, family-style home environment for residents aged 16-24, investing in meaningful relationships while managing daily house life. The Home is a substance-free house based on the seven grandfather teachings of love, respect, honesty, courage, truth, wisdom and humility. The House Parent couple reside in the home with up to four youth, modeling healthy living skills and providing an optimum level of support and care. The Home also provides a safe haven for past residents, friends and family of residents, and other Inner Hope community members as time and energy allows.
While both House Parents live in the Home, one House Parent will work full-time in this capacity while the other can be in school or working (receiving a partial salary from Inner Hope). If you are passionate about doing the work of reconciliation, journeying alongside youth and their families impacted by generational trauma and your values inspire you to do this in a ministry context, you will thrive in this role!
