Hours of Work Per Week: 40
Scheduled Days & Hours Each Week: Office hours are 8:30-4:30, Monday to Friday. However, a flexible 40 hours per week is required, including evenings & especially weekends, to accommodate children & family schedules and supporting supervised visitation.

The Program
324 Vegreville Family Intervention
The Strong Families program, under contract by Children's Services, uses Signs of Safety and strengths-based approach, to support youth & families in Vegreville and area with developing healthy interpersonal skills, self-esteem, conflict management, parenting, home management, financial skills, and overcoming barriers such as addictions and mental health.
It also helps families and youth access community resources/programs (recreation, child care, employment supports & job coaching, addictions support, family counselling, etc.), and build a support network for future growth and success.

The Position
You will work a flexible 40 hr/wk schedule to meet the needs of families including weekend drives and supervised family visits.
The Family Support Worker 2 works with families to successfully and safely raise their children, building on their strengths and learning skills such as daily routine for children, attachment, child development milestones, healthy family conflict resolution, building resilience, life skills and developing positive relationships with friends and family.

In Your Role You Will
• Travel in your own vehicle (mileage reimbursed at $0.55/km) or company vehicle, to family homes and communities in the service area.
• Determine family needs/develop goal-based service plans through assessments and discussions with the youth/families.
• Record and report client progress.
• Provide resources and model - communication, boundaries, behavior management, child development, effective problem solving or other relevant information related to outlined client goals
• Support children & families to connect with community resources/programs (recreation, child care, employment supports & job coaching, addictions support, family counselling, etc.) to build a support network for future growth and success.
• Advocate for clients when appropriate

As An Ideal Candidate You Possess
• A passion for working with families within your community
• Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Social Service Worker, Addictions, etc.
• 2+ years social work experience in family supports, intervention, youth work, trauma informed care, kinship or foster care, etc.
• Valid Alberta Driver’s License, reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance, and clean driver’s abstract
• Previous experience in developing community events and projects to engage with youth and families, is desirable.
• Knowledge of indigenous culture is an asset
• Experience working with computer software systems
• Highly motivated, and able to work independently
