Position: SCD Assistant

 

Location: Parksville, Vancouver Island, B.C.

 

Hours: 17.5 hours per week Part Time Permanent

 

Salary: Grid 13 ECE Senior $30.75 - $35.29

We are looking for an SCD Assistant to join our Sources Oceanside team! This individual must be flexible, able to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and have a strong understanding of child development.

Description of position

Reporting to the CDS Team Leader, the SCD Assistant is a permanent employee of Sources Community Resources.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Plans and organizes activities for preschool children.
  • Provides support and direct care to children, encouraging their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth.
  • Direct work with the children will occur in daycare / preschool settings.

 

Program Specific Responsibilities:

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for children.
  • Utilizes teaching techniques which include modelling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing.
  • Through observation of children, develops individualized and group curriculum based on the child’s support needs. Maintains liaison with other Child Development team professionals.
  • Ensures a healthy and safe environment. Identifies and removes potential hazards.

 

Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Education Certificate, plus Special Needs and / or Infant / Toddler Certificates (preferred).
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent related experience.
  • Effectively utilize Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook and central data systems.
  • Effectively communicate professionally, verbally and written in English.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR an asset (Training may be accessed through Sources).
  • Criminal Records check through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Records Review.
  • Program Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and own vehicle.
