The Role

The Manager, Digital Strategy will oversee Second Harvest's digital marketing initiatives, including email campaigns, website management, and SEO strategies, to enhance brand awareness and deliver an exceptional experience for our donors, volunteers, partners, and other stakeholders. This position will manage and optimize all digital content (ensuring technical functionality) and will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support Second Harvest’s mission.

The ideal candidate is digitally savvy, strategic, and passionate about leveraging digital channels to drive engagement and achieve organizational goals.

 

Your Impact

Email Marketing:

  • Work collaboratively to create, implement and optimize all email campaigns to ensure they are delivered on time, meet objectives and adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Manage the organization’s email series, including donor onboarding, engagement and retention emails, continuously refining to improve the donor journey.
  • Develop and implement segmentation strategies to effectively engage with target groups.
  • Monitor and analyze email performance metrics, using data-driven strategies to enhance effectiveness.
  • Ensure all email communications comply with relevant regulations and best practices.

Website:

  • Oversee website upkeep and maintenance using Webflow, regularly updating content in both English and French. Create and manage landing pages and ensure accuracy. Work with translators for French content.
  • Manage the website's event calendar.
  • Support ongoing website migration efforts (including integration of the blog), ensuring all content and functionalities are successfully transferred and integrated.
  • Monitor website performance, implementing improvements to enhance user experience and functionality.
  • Work collaboratively to align website content with marketing strategies and objectives.
  • Identify and address technical bugs, escalating issues to web vendors and oversee resolutions.
  • Ensure the website follows brand guidelines, design best practices and meets accessibility standards.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement, refresh content, enhance site performance and increase site visibility and functionality. Manage the improvement process.
  • Maintain clear documentation of website functionality and content guidelines.
  • Monitor the website inbox and respond/forward to the appropriate party.

 SEO:

  • Develop a comprehensive SEO strategy, in collaboration with internal teams, that enhances organic traffic and targets the right audiences at key points in their journey.
  • Conduct keyword research to optimize website and blog content.
  • Optimize website and blog content for search engines, including on-page elements such as meta tags, headings and internal linking structures.
  • Implement SEO best practices to improve website crawlability, indexing and overall search engine performance. Leverage advanced SEO techniques and tools (including AI) to enhance SEO efforts.
  • Monitor and analyze SEO performance metrics, using insights to refine strategies and improve search rankings.

 Other:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Second Harvest and the agency managing our Google Grant.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in email marketing, web development and SEO.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.

  • Technical: Strong understanding of digital marketing principles and best practices, including email marketing, website management, and SEO. Highly proficient with HTML, CMS platforms, email marketing tools and SEO tools, such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, Webflow, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, Asana, etc.
  • Creative: An eye for knowing what looks good and confident applying a set of brand guidelines to any scenario.
  • Collaborative: A positive, collaborative working style. Highly developed interpersonal skills including diplomacy and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical: Able to analyze data and metrics to inform strategy and decision-making, with experience using analytics tools to measure and improve performance.
  • Highly organized with proven project and time management skills. We appreciate attention to detail and the ability to prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all digital content and communications.
  • Motivated and proactive, capable of taking ownership of functional area and working independently.
  • Comfortable managing French content.
