full time  •  $23 to $24.40 per hour (based on current salary scale)

The role of the " school community worker " will be to act as a link between the school, families
and the community in the Little Burgundy area, with the primary objective of optimizing children's
social and academic success. This person will therefore work to bring these three elements closer
together, first and foremost by responding to parents' needs and concerns, and putting them in
touch with the school's resources, as well as with community and other resources in the
neighborhood.
Job description:


- Find out about the needs and problems of the school to which they are assigned, in order to
intervene appropriately with the target clientele, i.e. the students' parents;


- Familiarize yourself with organizations' service offerings;


- Assess parents' needs (whether related to their children's social and academic development
and/or their personal and family development) and intervene accordingly;


- Build relationships with school staff and work closely with management;


- Organize and/or lead, preferably in collaboration with local organizations, thematic
workshops based on the needs of parents and the school;


- Ensure availability and an effective response to parents' requests (whether f o r active
listening, information, guidance t o w a r d s resources or referrals);


- Encourage parents to get involved in the school and in organized activities;


- Publicize and promote local institutions and organizations, as well as neighborhood and
other activities and events, and ensure networking;


- Actively participate in youth committee meetings.
