Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join our nursing-based clinic within our shelter. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and promoting overall wellness for the shelter community. Clients within the shelter setting often have difficulty accessing a prescriber and you will be able to fill this gap by diagnosing and treating various medical conditions as well as providing valuable patient education on health management.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Care consultation
  • Order and interpret tests
  • Autonomously diagnose and treat illnesses
  • Perform medical procedures
  • Prescribe medications
  • Advocate for client wellness
  • Educate patients on preventative care and disease management
  • Manage PIPA, privacy, confidentiality, FOIP
  • Advise on Hope Mission policies and procedures
  • Participate in interdisciplinary and interagency collaboration

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Masters of Nursing program.
  • Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Active Frist Aid certification (preferably BLS-HCP).
  • Active professional liability protection insurance,
  • Ability to appraise and apply research, practice guidelines, and current best practice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion.
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with vulnerable populations, especially those experiencing homelessness.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and applications including Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
  • Strong understanding of Culturally-Informed Care and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a strong capacity for independence, self-motivation, and the ability to proactively take initiative in their work.

Other Requirements:

  • Being a Christian Organization we require our employees to be in agreement and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
  • Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
  • A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
  • Adherence to Hope Mission’s Policies and Procedures.
