Job Summary:
Under the guidance of the Director, Advocacy and Social Equity, the Supervisor, Senior Services and Disaster Response and Resiliency, will be responsible for effective management of the Seniors Services and Disaster Resiliency programs, ensuring resource allocation, budget management, leadership and supervision to the teams, and for managing daily operations.
This position oversees a variety of programs including supporting seniors’ independence, social connectivity, and community engagement with a focus on excellent service provision. In addition, this position supports efforts during disaster response recovery and building relationship with community groups to identify concrete deliverables. This work includes providing recovery services post disaster, planning considerations for community preparedness, and identifying people and projects requiring resiliency and mitigation assistance consistent with best practices.
Your Role:
Archway’s Supervisor for Seniors Services and Disaster Response and Resiliency with the Advocacy and Social Equity Department contributes by:
Seniors Services:
Organizing, coordinating, and overseeing the daily operations of Senior Services and participating in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities to meet the needs of seniors in the community.
Reporting program statistics and performance to the agency, funders, and required partner groups.
Identifying opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures, utilizing feedback from clients, program coordinators and community partners.
Collaborating with internal partners to increase access to services (e.g. elder abuse, affordable housing for seniors, self-neglect, transportation, loneliness and isolation).
Providing support, leadership, direction, and supervision to staff in the Senior Services Programs, and evaluating the performance of staff.
Managing and following the hiring process for all new hires.
Working with the team to assess department/programming risks and developing strategies to mitigate risks.
Supporting staff in overseeing a large base of volunteers in compliance with agency standards, policies and procedures.
Managing and updating program budgets efficiently, ensuring appropriate allocation of funds to meet funder requirements.
Disaster Response and Resiliency
Managing flood recovery and other climate response services in the delivery of client-centered services as they correlate to flood, climate and disaster recovery, preparedness and mitigation.
Connecting with families/individuals displaced by the atmospheric river to determine financial needs such as temporary housing options as permanent homes are rebuilt, and needs for restoration, clean-up, and repair.
Based on the survey results, providing to the Director, a cost estimate of financial needs and a listing of priorities to address.
Creating a disaster recovery guide and strategy for action to help people affected by disasters, in partnership with the City of Abbotsford and community partners.
In collaboration with community partners, establishing an action plan to include short-term and longer-term deliverables for financial assistance to respond to disaster recovery/preparedness efforts.
Creating a post disaster needs assessment.
Actively engaging in the establishment and management of the Abbotsford Community Resiliency Task Force.
Liaising with community partners, including municipal and provincial governments, in preparing plans to strengthen the region’s ability to respond to extreme climate events.

Our Offer
Wage: $32.00 to $33.00 per hour.
A full-time position at 40 hours per week, availability Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Temporary until January 31, 2025.

Getting an Interview – you will be considered if you have:
A Bachelor’s degree in social work, social services, business administration, or another relevant discipline.
At least 2 years’ supervisory experience.
At least 2 years’ professional experience in the planning, development, and/or administration of programs or services.
Experience in relationship building with an ability to connect to individuals, community partners, donors, funder agencies, and diverse communities.
Experience providing services to the elderly an asset.
Experience in conducting outreach to people affected by disasters an asset.
Experience in analyzing survey results and identifying priorities an asset.
Experience in establishing an action plan to meet deliverables an asset.
The Job Requires you to have:
Knowledge of issues facing seniors, older adults and those individuals who have been traditionally marginalized.
Knowledge of senior serving programs and support services that would be beneficial in mitigating common challenges associated with aging.
Strong supervisory skills including coaching, mentoring, delegating and facilitation skills.
Strong written, verbal, and active listening skills; able to communicate effectively and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds and with a variety of abilities.
Well-developed budgeting skills, able to create and manage multiple program budgets efficiently.
Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills and ability to use social media platforms.
Good facilitation skills to present information to a variety of audiences in a clear, concise, and effective way, both orally and in writing.
Well-developed crisis de-escalation, dispute resolution, and problem-solving skills.
Sensitivity to and knowledge of disaster management and environmental issues.
The use of a personal, reliable vehicle.
A valid BC Driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s abstract.
Availability to work in person during regular working hours, Monday to Friday (some weekend and evening work may be required).
The ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities which will require a well-developed ability to prioritize competing tasks.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary collaborative team.
A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
