The Program Coordinator will help us build connections within the community, develop and grow our volunteer base, and use your expertise to increase our capacity to carry out our mission. This is a full-time position for 18 months (Sept 15, 2024 - March 31, 2026.)
Asian Women for Equality is a non-profit organization working as a progressive force to change societal attitudes towards women, especially women of Asian descent; to advance equality for Asian women, and to create opportunities for Asian women to meaningfully participate and take leadership roles in civil society.
As a small but dedicated group of women working for social change, we are looking for someone passionate about advancing equality for women to help us grow our organization and advance our mission.
As our Program Coordinator, you will partner with us as we grow our organization and capacity in a few different ways:
Building connections within the community: We currently work with many community groups on projects to advance shared goals. Your work will support our agenda to connect and work with existing and new partner organizations. This includes administrative and communications work such as arranging travel, meeting spaces, and accommodations to support meetings with other organizations; sourcing speakers and trainers for training and educational workshops; organizing in-person and virtual events; publicizing events to relevant audiences; and setting up and attending to our table at community events.
Developing and growing the volunteer base: We are a volunteer-run group and we intend to grow in size, ability, and reach. You will help us identify and find ways to address the different challenges that may prevent Asian women from taking on fulfilling volunteer roles. This includes working with us to develop and implement a sustainable, achievable, timely recruitment, training, and retention strategy. This work may include but is not limited to project management, arranging hands-on training, preparing written and visual materials, documenting processes and practices, and public speaking.
Organizing a community space: You will help maintain our space as a welcoming place for our program and service users and visitors.
A good match for this position:
Credentials will only be valued as much as work experience. We particularly welcome applications from Asian women, working-class women, women of colour, and lesbian women. We will consider applications from women who are legally authorized to work in Canada and possess a valid open work permit.
Work hours are Monday to Friday but may include evenings and weekends depending on the need. The work schedule is hybrid with regular in-office hours at our space in east Vancouver.
Annual salary is $51,156
