At Care Masters Women and Family Services, we are a grassroots B3 organization (Black Led, Black Focused and Black Serving) organization dedicated to offering transformative, culturally responsive mental health support tailored to the unique challenges faced by our community. Our mission is to make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve, and we are looking for a passionate Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team and help us strengthen our impact.

 

Overview

Are you a natural connector with a passion for building relationships and driving community engagement? As our Community Engagement Coordinator, you’ll be at the forefront of our efforts to connect with the community, build lasting partnerships, and mobilize volunteers. You’ll play a key role in developing and implementing outreach strategies that support our mission and expand our reach. Reporting to the Executive Director you will be responsible for but not limited to the following: 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Community Outreach and Build Relationships - Develop and execute outreach plans to engage with community members and local organizations. Organize events, workshops, and meetings to raise awareness and build connections.
  • Volunteer Recruitment and Management - Recruit, train, and manage volunteers, ensuring they have a rewarding experience that encourages long-term involvement.
  • Partnership Development and Collaboration - Cultivate relationships with local businesses, schools, and organizations to create collaborative initiatives that align with our mission.
  • Communication and Advocacy - Create and distribute newsletters, social media posts, and press releases to promote our programs and events. Act as a spokesperson and advocate for the community we serve.
  • Program Support and Evaluation - Assist in the planning and execution of community programs, and provide feedback to improve their effectiveness.

Required Skills 

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities are essential for effectively conveying the charity’s mission, engaging with community members, and producing clear, persuasive communication materials.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with diverse groups of people, including community members, volunteers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage multiple events, projects, and outreach activities simultaneously. Strong organizational skills are crucial to ensure all tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Understanding and respecting the diverse cultural backgrounds and needs of the community. The ability to engage with people from various cultural, socio-economic, and demographic backgrounds is vital.
  • Proactive in identifying challenges and finding effective solutions. Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and needs within the community and the charity.
  • Experience in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers, including the ability to motivate and engage volunteers to ensure their long-term involvement.
  • Skills in planning, organizing, and executing events that engage the community and promote the charity’s mission.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and social media platforms to enhance outreach efforts and engage with the community online is an asset.
  • Ability to advocate for the charity’s mission and the community’s needs in various public settings, including events, meetings, and media appearances.
  • Skills in gathering, analyzing, and utilizing data to assess the effectiveness of engagement activities and make informed decisions for future strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in community development, social work, communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community engagement, outreach, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of community dynamics and experience working with diverse populations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to engage diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
  • Experience in event planning and volunteer management is an asset.
  • Passion for the mission of Care Masters Women and Family Services and a strong commitment to making a positive impact.

Additional Information

  • Some evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are preferred.
