Position: Program Manager, C.A.R.E. Initiative
Purpose: The Program Manager will oversee the design, implementation, and overall success of the C.A.R.E. (Care economy, Advancement, Readiness, Empowerment) Initiative, aimed at integrating newcomers into sustainable employment in the care economy. The manager will lead efforts to develop comprehensive training modules, collaborate with key partners, and ensure the smooth onboarding and retention of initial cohort participants in social services roles. The Program Manager will play a critical role in managing collaborations, tracking outcomes, and ensuring the initiative meets its goals of reducing reliance on social assistance by equipping newcomers with vital skills.
Reports to: People, Culture & Engagement Manager
Classification: Full-Time Contract; October 2024 - March 31, 2027; subject to extension based on funding.
Hours & location: 35 hours per week - work from AMSSA's office located Metrotower II, Suite 2308, 4720 Kingsway, Burnaby, B.C. V5H 4N2 with the possibility of working from home 2 days a week
Salary: $38.04 - $41.29/ hour commensurate with experience - Eligible for benefits after three months

DUTIES

Program Development & Execution:

  • Coordinate and support the logistics of the collaboration partnership meetings and advisory committee
  • Write and prepare work plans, agendas, production schedules, evaluation surveys, reports, slide presentations and other documents to be used for meetings, events and program resources.
  • Liaise with network partners and collaborators
  • Lead the design and delivery of training and onboarding modules tailored to newcomer needs.
  • Develop evaluation metrics to track progress and outcomes of participants throughout the program.
  • Collaborate with sector experts and an advisory committee to ensure training is aligned with the needs of the care economy.

Collaboration:

  • Manage relationships with partner organizations for this project
  • Act as a liaison between the program and government agencies to align with social assistance and employment policies.
  • Provides supervision to the project team.
  • Works closely with the People, Culture and Engagement Manager and Chief Executive Officer.

Program Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Monitor participant progress, collecting data on employment outcomes and skills development.
  • Prepare detailed reports for funders, and partners on the program's impact and progress.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes based on feedback and performance data.

Financial Management:

  • Manage the program budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Track program expenditures and ensure compliance with funding requirements.

Community Engagement & Advocacy:

  • Advocate for the benefits of integrating newcomers into the care economy at community and sector events and conferences.
  • Organize public relations efforts to highlight success stories and program achievements, including presentations at conferences.
  • Work with communications team to promote the initiative across various social media platforms.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of experience working in the settlement and integration sector.
  • University degree or equivalent or, 3-5 years of comparable program/project management experience.
  • Strong facilitation skills with experience leading large groups in meetings and dialogue.
  • Ability to demonstrate diplomacy while remaining engaging and proactive in advancing the objectives of the group.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive employee relations and engage effectively with diverse teams.
  • Understanding of theoretical approaches to immigration and migration including social sustainability.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize, organize and coordinate multiple projects at once.
  • Excellent active listening, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and professional attitude.
  • Familiarity with non-profit associations, and/or Province of BC or Government of Canada funded programming is an asset.
  • Flexible team player willing to do what it takes to get the job done; adaptable and enjoys a challenge.
  • Extremely organized with the ability to work with competing priorities and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in meeting and virtual event planning including working with Zoom and webinar platforms.
  • Demonstrate the ability to write, proofread and edit reports, minutes, communication materials and funder reports.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, synthesize, and adapt information to various audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other office productivity tools, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
