Location: Hybrid, Alberta (Full-Time, 35 hours a week, Monday – Friday 8:30-4:30)

About Us:
CMHA Alberta and Centre for Suicide Prevention began operations September 1, 2024. Prior to amalgamation CMHA Alberta and CSP shared a common goal and for many years worked in parallel and by coming together our organizations can build a broader network of partners, leverage donor and funder investment and reduce operational duplication. Our organization focuses on community mental health care, emphasizing education, training, advocacy, peer and family support, and crisis response in addition to suicide prevention.

 

About the Initiative:

CMHA’s Rural Mental Health Project strives to strengthen community capacity for better mental health in over 150 rural and remote communities through ongoing training, network development, and community grants.

The Rural Mental Health project (RMHP) and network are being built collaboratively with strategic local and provincial partners. The principles that guide our work include health promotion, community-development, strength-based, using whole-community approaches, while considering the full lifespan development of our communities.

Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated Network Coordinator to support the Rural Mental Health Project. Reporting to the Rural Mental Health Lead, this role involves fostering connections among network members, promoting collaboration, and ensuring the growth and sustainability of the network. The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, organized, and comfortable working autonomously and relationally. They will be our ‘network weaver’.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Map and align network information to connect individuals, communities, and projects.
  • Identify and implement processes that improve network connections, knowledge translation, information sharing and inform evaluation.
  • Co-coordinate and influence network-wide activities with members that encourage collective action, learning and self-organization.
  • Onboard and support new network members and assist with network events.
  • Design and implement engagement ladders, providing a spectrum of opportunities for network participants to get involved in network activities.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to engage network participants and keep them informed with up-to-date knowledge regarding rural mental health activities and outcomes.
  • Support knowledge sharing, gathering feedback, and summarizing rural needs and priorities.
  • Active participation in team meetings, events and contributions to all forms of Network communications.
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working remotely and using digital tools (Microsoft Office, Zoom, Google).
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in community engagement, collaborative facilitation, and social innovation.
  • Ability to translate information in a way that is accessible to others.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and flexible, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment of frequent change and within an ambiguous landscape.
  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in a related field (e.g., Public Health, Sociology); or a combination of education and recent and relevant experience.
