Who we’re looking for: 

Our Director of Operations is excited to learn, and passionate about supporting a culture that values an accountable and healthy workforce. You possess excellent attention to detail and can pivot between technical reporting requirements and supporting clients and staff in a dynamic environment. Our ideal candidate is a Registered Health Professional (Social Worker, LPN, OT, etc.) and has experience working within the framework of provincial regulations including CCHSS, FOIPA, HIPA, etc. The ideal candidate will have experience supervising staff and working with seniors affected by social isolation, dementia, and/or other conditions involved in geriatric supports.  

Position Description: 

Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Operations supports the general operations of the organization in collaboration with the ED, Office Administrator, and Program Managers. This position will provide leadership to a team of passionate casual Program Facilitators and is responsible for collaborating on process improvement opportunities and championing ElderCare as a leader in adult day programming. Responsibilities include: 

 

  • Identify opportunities in Program operations to ensure that programs, policies, and processes meet high quality standards in alignment with our Alberta Health Services contracts to reduce organizational risk, improve participant and caregiver outcomes, and increase organizational capacity.  
  • In collaboration with the ED and Program Managers, lead implementation plans to operationalize identified opportunities. 
  • Support organizational activities, including but not limited to student management, event planning, and communications. 
  • Support the management of scheduling, time-off management, and payroll approvals for hourly staff, in collaboration with Program Managers. 
  • Manage recruitment and onboarding of Program Facilitators. 
  • Support management of staff training and certifications, including ensuring that staff have required recertifications (CPR-C, CCHSS, Police Check, Medication Assistance, etc.) 
  • Support financial management, including administrative tasks related to invoicing, etc.  
  • Support the ED re: grant applications, research, policy development, and communications. 
  • If required, operate as a Program Manager and/or Program Facilitator when alternative relief is not available. 
  • Other duties as required.  

Candidate assets: 

  • Degree in Business, Management, or Human Services. 
  • Registration with a health profession regulated by self-governing regulatory colleges under the Health Professions Act (HPA).  
  • Knowledge of geriatric conditions, community resources, and supporting agencies. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations and effectively use empathy. 
  • Strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Flexible, comfortable working independently and collaborating as part of a team. 
  • Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check (required). 
  • Clean class 5 driver’s license, use of own vehicle, and 2-million liability auto insurance (required). 
  • Ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time to provide occasional program support (required). 
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit environment.  
  • Familiarity with CCHSS, HIA, FOIPA, IP&C, Alberta Health Services Food Safety requirements, and the AHS Reportable Incident Process 
  • Current standard First Aid/ Level C CPR  

 

Primary location: ElderCare Head Office, 12122 68 St NW  

Secondary location(s): At all program sites and the option of a hybrid remote schedule, as needed. 

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours/week), with core hours between 9-3 Monday-Friday. For the right candidate, there is flexibility to consider an alternate workweek or schedule.
