FULL-TIME TRANSITIONAL SUPPORT WORKER - Edmonton, AB

Program overview: Our supported independent living services provide a comfortable environment for youth who require some help developing life skills. We are looking for an individual who has a passion for working with these vulnerable youth, becoming their role model and teaching them life skills through various activities.
Position overview: Under the direction of the Manager of Supported Independent Living program, the Transitional Support Worker is responsible for managing a caseload of the individuals served while assisting them in their transition into independence in a therapeutic milieu. Some of the duties include: managing a caseload of youth and assisting them in their transition into independence; providing direct supervision, support and advocacy to youth; ensuring positive relationships occur while addressing their physical, emotional and social needs; assessing, teaching and enhancing the independent living skills of teens in the program.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Qualifications/Experience: Must have a diploma/degree in Child Youth Care, Social Work (if education is in Social Work, must be registered or prepared to register as a Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers) education or related field. Previous experience working with youth and case management would be a definite asset.
Other requirements: A current, clear Police Information Check (vulnerable sector included) and Child Intervention Record Check, both dated within the last 6 months. A valid AB driver’s license (minimum class 5) and current driver's abstract (no more than 8 demerits). Must be willing to work shifts, sometimes evenings and weekends.
Salary & Benefits: Salary Range is $49,856.00 - $55,856.00 annually (salary commensurate with experience). 3-weeks’ vacation accrual to start with an additional week added after 2 years. We provide full-time employees with a 100% employer-paid health benefits package (which includes vision, dental and prescription drug coverage, massage therapy, etc.) and a 100% employer-paid R.R.S.P. equaling 3% of gross salary. We also offer free courses and workshops in-house for all of our employees.
