POSITION: Outreach Counsellor (temp)
LOCATION: Maple Ridge, BC


Outreach Services at Community Services utilizes the Family Systems perspective in providing goal directed supportive intervention services to families that are experiencing significant levels of stress or conflict, where the development of parenting strategies, child development, behavioural management and life-coping skills will have an effect on reducing stress and promoting stability.

In this position you will deliver services to children and family using both community and home-based location and will be responsible for providing assessment, goal-oriented planning and implementation services to clients. You will aid clients in identifying, understanding, and overcoming personal/family problems by establishing and achieving realistic goals. Based on the nature of the role, a flexible schedule is required, which may include some evenings and weekends.

The Outreach Counsellor is responsible for written documentation and reporting for the funder, liaising with the supervisor, Ministry of Children and Families Social Workers and other community professionals as required.

QUALIFICATIONS


Education, Training and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a related human/social services field
• Minimum of two (2) years recent related experience

Additional Requirements:
•Clear Criminal Record Check is required
•Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
•Valid and unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver’s License with access to a safe and reliable vehicle
•Position requires Union Membership

•Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills
•Experience working with families using different strategies
•Strong goal planning and evaluation skills along with demonstrated case management abilities
•Experience working with children, youth and families
•Collaborative team player
•Excellent written/verbal communication skills


Shift/Schedule/Hours per week: 35 hours per week; temporary until the return of incumbent
Wage/Salary: $38.68 / hour
Grid Level: 14P
