Working closely with the National Director of Development, the Senior Lead, Development will lead the development and execution of critical program management to drive the scaling of major donor revenue in Canada.

This role is critical in allowing IJM to secure the full market potential for major donor and principal revenue. This leader will support the Development Leadership team by monitoring our programs and projects, ensuring high levels of effectiveness and optimized collaboration across cross-functional teams, and drive nimble evaluation and seizure of strategic opportunities.

This is a full-time, 18-month contract position that is based remotely in Canada. IJM offers a competitive compensation package which includes 3 weeks of paid vacation and benefits.

Roles and Responsibilities

Leadership and Management 

  • Serve as secondary internal point of contact for the Development Team program. 
  • Manage internal team communication rhythms and coordinate team meetings.
  • Develop and oversee new operations and processes to support accomplishments of plans.
  • Contribute to coherent systems, process and best practices for collaboration and coordination across the organization.
  • Support the National Director in providing structure and direction for the organization and enable successful collaboration across departments.
  • Advise on major donor match strategy and manage processes for securing matches and appropriate communications regarding match conditions.
  • Support with the development of a principal donor and a planned giving strategy.
  • Provide support for the Development Team Directors in prospecting Major Donor and Principal donors, institutions and foundations.

Strategy & Operations

  • Support the National Director of Development with equipping the Development Team with the best practice for strategic planning, budgeting and work planning, innovation, and learning. 
  • Manage timelines and progress of interdepartmental projects supervised by the National Director such as annual budgeting and strategic planning.
  • Develop and recommend solutions to the National Director of Development regarding the Development Team's information sharing and collaboration needs, utilizing appropriate technology, software, and system design.
  • Collaborate with and support Directors of Development to identify Principal level donors and facilitate tactics to move those donors to give sustainability at this level.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of proven experience delivering results in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Proven track record of effectiveness as collaborator on cross-functional teams.
  • Superior capacity to manage larger number of projects and tasks simultaneously to completion with minimal oversight.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and Salesforce.
  • Experience with supporting teams and direct management.

 Travel

  • Travel is required for approximately 4-6 trips a year within North America
