Kitchen Assistant – Casual, On-call

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Kitchen Supervisor with directional support from Second Cooks, the Kitchen Assistant is responsible for basic food preparation techniques used to produce high quality, large volume meals. In addition, the Kitchen Assistant is responsible for washing and storing of all kitchen and dining room dishes, maintaining clean and sanitary work areas and equipment and tools in a professional manner. The successful candidate will be willing to cross train in the assisted living facility’s other departments, such as the Dining Room area and Housekeeping.
This is a casual on-call position and shifts for Kitchen Assistant will typically be from 10:30 am – 6:30 pm. This position is compensated at $24.34 per hour.
Requirements
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Courses or training in customer service and/or food service
• 1-2 years of experience working in high volume facilities, not including convenience or fast food, or an equivalent combination of education, training & experience
• Courses required and paid for by M’akola:
o Occupational Level 1 First Aid Level 1 Certificate
o Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
o WHMIS Certificate
• Criminal Record Check
