We have an exciting opportunity for a positive, creative person to join the team at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley. We are currently seeking applications for the position of Communications and Marketing Coordinator

You are an energetic, creative, individual that is looking to use your event planning, communication, and marketing experience to help us achieve our mission of supporting children and youth in the Langley community. You will also assist in general administrative duties to welcome new volunteers and clients into our agency, and ongoing program support. The ideal candidate has excellent time management and organization skills, thrives in a fast-paced work environment, and enjoys variety in their day.

What you will be doing:

Marketing and Communication Duties

  • Assists with the development of the agency’s annual marketing, communications and fundraising strategic plans.
  • Assists with fund-raising and special events by: preparing marketing materials, soliciting prizes/gift, assisting with the planning, set-up, and organization of related activities, as part of the larger BBBS staff team.
  • Assists with the marketing of agency programs, mission and values for volunteer and donor recruitment purposes.
  • Participates in the development and coordination of agency communication to volunteers, board members, staff, donors, and families to communicate and promote the activities of the Agency
  • Manages the Agency’s web-site, through the National office, by editing, updating and monitoring the currency of information on a regular basis
  • Manages the Agency’s social media sites, by editing, updating and monitoring on a regular basis
  • Assists in the design and preparation of the Agency’s annual report

 Administrative Duties

  • Performs customer service and reception duties including greeting visitors and clients, answering and referring telephone inquiries,
  • Issues thank-you letters and tax receipts to donors
  • Ensures supplies are adequately stocked and orders/stocks supplies and materials
  • Prepares and processes general Agency correspondence, takes and records meeting minutes
  • Processes bank deposits, manages petty cash, and performs other financial related duties
  • Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Executive Director

 

What you bring:

  • Post secondary degree in marketing, communications or a related field. Two years directly related experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Excellent creative design and marketing skills. Hands on experience with web content management tools such as WordPress, social media platforms and, InDesign.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment that requires quick thinking and willingness to adapt according to the situation.
  • Excellent customer service skill
  • Experience with event planning and facilitation of fundraising events.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Creative, out of the box thinking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential material with discretion
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle
