The New Brunswick Multicultural Council (NBMC) acts as the bilingual non-profit, umbrella organization for established immigrant-serving agencies and established and emerging multicultural / ethno-cultural associations in the province. Since its inception, NBMC has played a key advisory role to federal, provincial and municipal levels of government on issues relating to multiculturalism, immigration, newcomer settlement, retention and labour market integration. The multicultural community also values NBMC as a central coordinating/capacity-building body that promotes efficiency, avoids duplication of services, and allows for an exchange of best practices and other resources through its network of organizations, contacts, partners and stakeholders. NBMC has been a key contributor to the province’s immigration success for over 41 years and is the oldest umbrella organization in Atlantic Canada.

Now, NBMC is seeking its next Executive Director who will champion its mission to enrich and grow communities and enhance life in New Brunswick by enabling newcomers and members of the multicultural community to fully participate and prosper in society.

Key Responsibilities/ What Does This Role Entail?

Reporting to the President of the Board and the Board of Directors, as the Executive Director you will:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership in carrying out the organization’s mission and strategic priorities and enabling the success and sustainability of NBMC.
  • Champion and execute the newly established strategic plan. You will capably steward the organization’s budget and lead, motivate and engage a talented and committed team.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance the effectiveness and reach of NBMC programs and services.
  • Build and strengthen NBMC’s relationships with members, other agencies, community organizations, volunteers, the local community and the federal, provincial and local funding partners and grant providers that enable the important work of the NBMC.
  • Advocate for policies and initiatives that support multiculturalism, immigration, and the integration of newcomers
  • Serve as a passionate and compelling ambassador for NBMC.
  • Ensure the organization has a strong presence and voice in the local community and beyond.

Ideal Candidate Profile

As an ideal candidate, you are a dynamic, collaborative and inclusive leader who brings energy, strategic vision, and experience leading people, budgets, projects and programs in a complex, multi-partner environment. You bring experience working with boards. You are an exceptional communicator in English and French and you are a compelling advocate and spokesperson for your organization, able to motivate and inspire those around you to work towards a common vision.

You naturally build relationships and are known for quickly earning trust and establishing meaningful and effective working partnerships with government, members, and community partners alike. Your are a confident decision-maker, ensuring your choices are well-informed by member and organizational priorities. You are agile in overseeing operations and continuously improving the organization to meet its long-term objectives. You are diplomatic, and resourceful and are familiar with not-for-profit funding models and grant providers. You are a highly effective leader and who puts your full energy behind initiatives you believe in.
