Job Summary:
The Facilitator is responsible for facilitating program workshops and curriculum
development as well as providing job development services to ensure client work
placements. The Facilitator is also responsible for follow-up activities and ensuring
that participants reach the ultimate outcome of employment according to the
program’s timeline.
Reports to: Program Director
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Facilitates, and continually develops a dynamic and engaging set of
workshops for clients
- Markets the program to referring agencies, the wider community, and the
general public to ensure that outcomes reflect the expected deliverables
- Participates in the recruitment process of youth ensuring that they meet
eligibility requirements, and conducts information sessions and interviews
to screen all candidates
- Collects labour market information for clients regarding job openings and
skills requirements, and other occupational information
- Provides job search services which includes group facilitation and individual
employment counselling sessions
- Provides one-on-one support for clients in need of further support
- Strengthens participants' interviewing skills and employability through
supporting them in various of confidence building activities
- Develops job leads and markets participants to potential employers.
- Creates connections and networking opportunities with different business
sectors
- Locates work placement and job openings for participants based on their
skills and abilities
- Maintains productive ongoing relationships with existing employers and
actively reaches out to establish relationships with new employers
- Performs office administration tasks such as file keeping and maintaining
progress notes for auditing purposes
- Explains the benefits and employment support services provided by
programs to employers, which include addressing any employers’ special
needs that they may have
- Conducts regular follow-up when applicants are placed in positions,
monitors participants’ performance on the job, and provides support and
coaching to ensure their performance meets expectations
- Prepares documentation and reports related to program activities, and
tracks participant activities and progress data
- Prepares success stories in monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as required
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Director
Education, Training and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Social Sciences, and/or Social Work
- Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) or equivalent designation
- Minimum of three years’ work experience in a social service environment as
an employment case manager, job developer, employer liaison, or job coach
- Experience in facilitating workshops/group activities, including but not
limited to job search, basic life skills, essential work skills, and soft skills
- Experience in connecting with employers to provide job experience for
clients
- Experience working with diverse clientele (e.g. youth with barriers, mature
workers, immigrants, refugees, etc.)
- Experience and knowledge in career counseling
- Knowledge of intercultural and social issues
- Knowledge of practical methods and techniques for job development and
client placement
- Knowledge of the local labor market information and trends in British
Columbia
