Applications are currently being accepted for full-time (35-hours/week) Accountant/Payroll Administrator in our Finance department. This is a time-limited job to cover a leave of absence.

 

Job Purpose                                   

To perform general accounting functions, process payroll and provide general administrative support. 

Job Responsibilities

Full cycle accounting using QuickBooks

Process A/R, A/P, T4s

Prepare journal entries and statistics

Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and budgets for funding proposals

Prepare claims and quarterly reports for funders

Enter payroll information to the system

Prepare payroll information, meet biweekly deadlines, and obtain authorization

Process monthly and quarterly payments for employee deductions

Receive and match invoices to delivery slips, purchase orders and other relevant documentation

Check accuracy of invoices and obtain appropriate approvals, obtain accounting codes and resolve discrepancies

Enter invoices in accounting system on a weekly basis

File invoices and all supporting documentation

Receive cheques/payments and enter records to accounting system

Prepare bank deposits and take deposits to bank

Prepare aged accounts receivable reports

Prepare invoices for billing purposes and enter into accounting system

Perform data entry to create statistical reports and documents

Prepare monthly statistics for funders

Reception relief duties

Maintain customer database and mailing list

Receive, prioritize and forward mail, hard copy and electronic

Provide data entry to database system for various programs

Ensure accuracy of data and reports

Type and format letters, memorandums, reports and documents

Prepare mail-outs of materials

Other relevant duties as assigned, for program or Agency

 

Key Qualifications                        

CGA/CMA designation or currently registered and actively pursuing designation

Two (2) years paid work experience in an accounting department – A/P, A/R, G/L, payroll

Strong computer skills

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Payroll software and Accounting software, specifically advanced knowledge of QuickBooks

Attention to detail

As there may be a work-from-home component to this job, the ability to work from home, consisting of a safe and private home office setting and the necessary technical equipment and high-speed Internet access for remote work

Familiarity with virtual work platforms

Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking capabilities

Superior oral and written command of the English language

Excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision in a team environment

Demonstrate efforts to continuously update skills

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Flexibility to work day/evening/week-end shifts

Additional language(s) an asset
