Description

Asian Women for Equality is a non-profit organization working as a progressive force to change societal attitudes towards women, especially women of Asian descent; to advance equality for Asian women, and to create opportunities for Asian women to meaningfully participate and take leadership roles in civil society.

This is a new staff position in the organization. The Development Officer works closely in collegial partnership with members, volunteers and staff. The Development Officer is responsible for raising funds and stewarding a plan that will grow Asian Women for Equality’s financial development capacity. This includes but is not limited to growing revenue streams, including soliciting and stewarding new and existing donors; preparing grant applications; developing and maintaining the donor database; and leading the development of new fundraising initiatives. The Development Officer also assists with communications work that advance the fundraising agenda. 

Key Responsibilities: 
●    Develop fundraising goals and strategic plans of annual deliverables
●    Collaborate in the development of the case for support
●    Research & identify grant opportunities and other funding and strategic partnership opportunities
●    Develop fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives
●    Craft grant proposals. Track and ensure timely submission of proposals and reporting
●    Develop and maintain relationships with members, potential donors and partners
●    Develop and maintain donor databases, including donor development and maintenance of donor meeting notes.
●    Play a supportive role in the recruitment and training of volunteers 
●    Support planning and development of events which may include development of an event sponsorship program or other fundraising elements
●    Create marketing materials to support fundraising activities and initiatives. 

A good match for this position: 

●      Aware of and able to work in support of our mandate.
●      Proven experience in grant writing and fundraising, preferably in the Canadian non-profit sector
●      Proven experiences in communications, public relations, and stakeholder engagement, preferably in the non-profit sector
●      Superior written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and reports
●      Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
●      Solid understanding of budgeting and project management strategies
●      Knowledge and experience of Canadian regulations governing non-profits and charities
●      Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
●      Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, demonstrating initiative, creativity and problem-solving skills
●      Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Experience in planning and executing events is an asset.

Proficiency in an Asian language is an asset but not required.

This is a full-time position that ends March 31, 2026

Work hours are Monday to Friday but may include evenings and weekends depending on the need. The work schedule is hybrid with regular in-office hours at our space in east Vancouver.
