Hours: Part-time, based on center schedule and student needs (7:00 AM - 9:00 AM), (2:00 PM - 6:00 PM)
Wage: Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience

We believe every child deserves personalized support to reach their full potential, and we are seeking a compassionate, dedicated Educational Assistant to provide one-on-one support to children with special needs.

Position Overview:
As an Educational Assistant (EA), you’ll work directly with a child who requires additional support, ensuring they have the tools, encouragement, and guidance they need to thrive in a school or childcare setting. This role is ideal for someone passionate about special education and committed to creating a positive, impactful experience for the child.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to a child with special needs, adapting activities to their abilities and needs
  • Assist in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and personalized learning strategies
  • Support the child in daily routines, social interactions, and academic tasks, fostering independence whenever possible
  • Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other team members to ensure consistent, quality support
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment, addressing any behavioural or emotional needs with patience and care
  • Maintain accurate records and observations on the child’s progress, achievements, and any areas requiring additional support
  • Assist with mobility, feeding, or personal care as required based on the child’s needs

Requirements:

  • Educational background in any of the following: Autism Behavioural Science, Child and Youth Care, and Behavioural psychology, or related field.
  • Prior experience working with children with special needs in a school, childcare, or similar setting
  • Knowledge of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and experience in adapting activities to support diverse learning needs
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Vulnerable sector check and criminal reference check required
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to making a difference in the lives of children with special needs
