Who We Are:

Based in Stratford, Ontario, the Stratford Festival is one of the world’s foremost repertory theatre companies. It operates year-round, presenting a season of about a dozen plays each year between the months of April and November, a rich stream of digital content and hundreds of events designed to deepen understanding of the plays. For every person a theatregoer sees on our stages, we have seven people working behind the scenes, some of the world’s most dedicated and experienced arts workers.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, Content & Editorial or their designate, the Social Media Manager manages the Stratford Festival’s online community and social media channels with the objective of promoting audience engagement and increasing ticket, subscription and membership sales.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans for all Stratford Festival’s social media channels), taking into considering each channel’s particularities.
  • Create content pieces to engage with existing audiences and attract new followers, on a daily basis.
  • Manage and grow the Stratford Festival’s social community, creating a unique curated experience to our followers while also monitoring channels 24/7, including on weekends and holidays.
  • Assist the revenue team in driving strategic marketing efforts through our organic channels, while working in close collaboration with the Digital Marketing Manager on paid campaigns.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments by advising and establishing strong marketing and social media plans for their initiatives, including EDI, Education, Archives, Advancement, the Meighen Forum and STRATFEST@HOME.
  • Track, report and analyze social media campaigns, identifying trends and creating multiple reports for stake holders, including relevant KPIs, on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis.
  • Manage and respond to comments and questions on social media, as well as engage with our online audiences.
  • Track social media trends and develop creative user-engagement opportunities, while staying true to the company’s branding and tone on each of our channels.
  • Coordinate and closely collaborate with the Graphic’s team on a regular stream of image requests for social channels.
  • Support the Director of Marketing, Content and Editorial, in production duties as required, including supporting key projects such as the annual Visitor’s Guide and seasonal YouTube series.
  • Develop and coordinate and share Opening Night activations, while collaborating with various teams and hosting a number of attendees, including influencers and publications.
  • Manage annual social media budget
  • Collaborate with the video and graphics team to create content for our social media channels.
  • Film and edit videos on iPhone, as well as take photos of various events at the Festival, in order to support our content strategies.
  • Coordinate and book influencers/online publications to visit the Festival
  • Adhere to the Stratford Festival Health & Safety Commitment and Procedures, and ensure that safe work practices and policies are supported and enforced within reporting structure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • University undergraduate degree (four year program) or equivalent (i.e. BA, BSc, BComm, etc) in Humanities, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of related experience
  • Excellent copy writing skills, ability to develop marketing/advertising content and manage creative requests for digital projects.
  • Interest in theatre and the arts is essential and knowledge of Stratford Festival is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of current digital and social media platforms, trends and technologies, including Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and LinkedIn.
  • Strong knowledge of content management systems such as Hootsuite and Airtable is an asset.
  • Experience using Facebook Ads Manager and Google Ads is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle social communication effectively and tactfully.
  • Capcut and Canva skills are an asset.
