About the Host Capacity Team Lead position

We’re seeking an enthusiastic Host Capacity Team Lead (HCTL) to join our team and make a meaningful impact! Reporting to the National Host Capacity Lead, the HCTL will work closely with our Host Capacity Management team and Host Ambassadors (HAs) to ensure the success of our homestay programs across Canada. In this role, you’ll lead and support a team of HAs, fostering a network of outstanding host families and promoting organizational values through effective team accountability and support. This is a permanent full-time (40hrs a week) position that can be based anywhere in Canada. It is a fully remote role with an hourly wage of $21.00-$26.00. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the Host Ambassador team workload and performance
  • Deliver meaningful and effective host care through acknowledgement, authenticity, and understanding unique needs
  • Demonstrate a high technical skill level and computer efficiency to navigate a sophisticated database and other applications
  • Establish targets for host recruitment in the communities that have been assigned to the Host Capacity Team Lead by analyzing the existing and/or potential host network
  • Draft strategic documents summarizing areas in marketing, host recruitment, and host retention, and establishing targets based on the analysis
  • Generate & update all relevant reports & logs with current and timely data
  • Assist when necessary in the management of ad hoc projects to support initiatives in other communities

The successful candidate will have

  • 3 or more years of customer service experience
  • Previous experience working with international students and a variety of cultures
  • Previous experience in a leadership role
  • Degree or diploma in International Studies, Social Sciences, or other related program
  • Innate ability to work independently in an autonomous, flexible, and virtual office environment
  • Uncompromised ability to prioritize time and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work in a team and develop relationships with colleagues and their local community
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of database software products as well as online communication tools (preferably Excel, Word, FileMaker Pro, and MS Teams)
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills, including precise attention to detail

This role requires the successful candidate to have a full drivers license with a reliable vehicle that has at least 2 million auto insurance liability coverage, a mobile phone for emergency support, a digital camera, and access to high-speed internet.  They will also need to be able to pass a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check.
