The Role

The Recruiter is responsible for driving recruitment efforts, building a robust talent pipeline, and leading initiatives to attract and hire diverse talent including summer students and youth. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, this role partners closely with hiring managers across the organization to align talent acquisition strategies with Second Harvest’s mission and values.

 

Your Impact

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment ensuring a seamless and inclusive candidate experience from application to onboarding.
  • Partner with Human Resources Business Partners and hiring managers in preparing job descriptions and job postings for vacant or additional positions.
  • Ensure recruitment practices are fully aligned with Second Harvest’s EDI objectives by developing and executing recruitment strategies that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion at every stage of the hiring process.
  • Utilize a variety of sourcing techniques and innovative methods and solutions to identify and attract high quality active and passive candidates.
  • Establish relationships with educational institutions, community organizations, and job boards to enhance outreach to underrepresented groups.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates through proactive outreach, partnerships, and networking.
  • Create and manage programs to engage early-career professionals and students, fostering long-term connections with Second Harvest including Canada Summer Jobs and youth-focused programs (including applications and reporting requirements).
  • Proactively promote Second Harvest as an employer of choice on social media platforms in collaboration with Marketing & Communication team (e.g. LinkedIn).
  • Acts as a trusted partner to hiring managers, providing training and resources to enhance their interviewing and onboarding capabilities and use of Second Harvest’s Applicant Tracking system.
  • Keep hiring managers apprised of recruitment updates, including progress on open positions.
  • Coordinate with hiring managers and team members to ensure new hires receive all required information, training and resources and are setup for success.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and organizational policies throughout the recruitment process.
  • Maintain accurate records, budget, and key recruitment reports and metrics related to all recruitment activities, and regularly analyze data related to time to fill, job board effectiveness, recruiter fees, and other related costs.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Director, Human Resources and Human Resources Business Partners on the status of open positions and key recruitment metrics and collaborate with HR team to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall execution of the People Strategy.

  • Discreet with the ability to handle confidential information/sensitive situations with integrity.
  • Serve as the point of contact for candidates throughout the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring a smooth and positive experience.
