POSITION DESCRIPTION


The program lead facilitator is responsible for the implementation and delivery of a structured and manualized social-emotional skills program for children and youth with learning and attention difficulties. The lead facilitator may be involved in the delivery of the program in a 1:1 and/or group approach, depending on preferences and availability. This is a contractor position, and the number of groups/individuals the facilitator would be working with is flexible. Lead facilitators will have the opportunity to work between 1 to 15 hours per week. Program delivery may take place at the Canlearn office, virtually, in schools, or in the community. 

Responsibilities

  • Implementing activities and strategies in the program manual for individuals and/or groups of
    children/teens to support their social and emotional skills.
  • Organizing and preparing weekly lessons utilizing the program manual and modifying learning materials and activities based on the needs of the children.
  • Assisting children with learning and practicing strategies. 
  • Supporting children with behaviour management strategies.
  • Communicating and collaborating with parents/caregivers, school or community staff. 
  • Overseeing and collecting documentation needed for the program.
  • Consulting with the coordinator as needed.

Qualifications:  Education & Experience

  • Graduated from a psychology-related post-secondary program and Provisionally Registered Psychologist in Alberta.
  • Practical understanding of effective strategies and best practices for working with children with neurodiverse challenges. 
  • Prior group facilitation experience.
  • Valid First Aid & CPR.
