full time  •  Based on experience- $22.20 to $29.40 per hour.

THE ROLE

Deliver ACAA’s school based education programs (The INCREDIBLE You & The CONNECTED You) through a blend of online and in-person delivery methods. Creativity, compassion and innovation will contribute to the value of this program. Education Facilitators are responsible for the facilitation of education programs to youth, caregivers, professionals and community members, particularly within a school based context. Education programs include information about online and in person sexualized violence, healthy relationships, responding to disclosures, youth rights within the context of the law, and navigating the Criminal Justice System. This position may be part time or full time, and may be combined with the Youth Justice Navigator position. ACAA is seeking applicants from across the region.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Education Program Delivery: 

    • Deliver ACAA’s Education programs to youth ages 12-24 in school, post-secondary and community based settings, caregivers, school staff and youth serving professionals. 

    • Assist the Education Coordinator in development and/or revision of Sexual Violence education programs as required.

    • Ensure that pre and post-evaluation forms are completed by program participants and teachers on all programs delivered and submitted to the ACAA Program Director.

    • Attend planned team, planning and supervision meetings.

    • Comply with the policies and procedures, adopted by ACAA, in the delivery of preventive education programs.

 

  • Collaborative Work: 

    • Consultations with community members and other service providers as required;  

    • Participate in program development as appropriate and directed;  

    • Attend staff meetings, community and provincial network meetings, and remains updated on current literature and direction (e.g. prevention, education pedagogy), and where appropriate, adapt practices and skills to reflect changes as determined by the Executive Director and team Lead(s);  

  • Other appropriate duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or Post-secondary degree in social work, psychology, or related field, or proven and equivalent experience;

  • 2 to 3 years related work experience in the human services field, with public speaking and delivery of education programs;;

  • Ability to work with the effects of sexual violence on individuals and communities;

  • Ability to travel within part of the region (services are provided within East Central Alberta, including the communities of Camrose, Stettler, Drumheller, Hanna, Castor, Coronation and surrounding areas)

    • Must own, properly register and insure own vehicle

    • Possess a valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License and provide Driver’s Abstract annually

  • Satisfactory professional, Child Intervention Checks (Vulnerable Sector) and Police Information Checks provided to ACAA prior to start date

  • Is familiar with the issue of sexualized violence and feminist, anti-oppressive  approaches to support and violence prevention, principles and practices;

  • Approaches challenges with innovation and solutions using a growth mindset and team approach;

  • Is highly adaptable, organized and detail-oriented; 

  • Is comfortable working collaboratively with other staff and organizations. 

  • Is able to develop strong working relationships with a broad range of people, in collaborative, consultative, and/or support capacities;

  • Is motivated to take initiative, and can manage multiple tasks; and

  • Has an understanding of the Alberta Education Curriculum (Health, Wellness, Consent) and experience in database management.
