Hart House is a centre for experiential education outside the classroom at the University of Toronto. Since it opened in 1919, Hart House functions as a place where students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the broader community connect with each other and the world. Through an array of co-curricular programming in the arts, dialogue and wellness, Hart House works with local and international partners to foster community and to create innovative learning opportunities for students. Hart House operates from a historic facility on the St. George campus, as well as a 150-acre farm in Caledon, Ontario, offering a wide range of services through a social enterprise model that generates revenue to support its student-focused programming on all three University of Toronto campuses.
The Marketing and Communications department develops and implements marketing and communication plans, strategies and tactics to support the strategic goals of Hart House. We use a wide range of strategies to build lasting connections with our diverse audience groups including students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, clients, members and the broader community. Using Hart House owned, campus run media channels and external media, we promote Hart House’s wide breadth of programming in integrated arts, dialogue and expression, fitness, wellness and recreation, community access and outreach, theatre and performing arts as well as Hart House hospitality services. We also provide support to the Hart House Warden’s Office, Advancement, Staff Relations & Professional Development, Information Services, Facilities and other areas.
Your opportunity:
Under the supervision of the Manager of Marketing and Communications, Revenue and Brand, the Marketing and Communications Assistant is responsible for assisting in building, disseminating and measuring the success of targeted marketing and communications strategies that promote Hart House programs, events, initiatives and services.
The incumbent collaborates extensively with all members of the team, supporting the entire portfolio of all managers in the Marketing and Communications team, to ensure that the department delivers effective marketing outreach and tactics supporting Hart House’s strategic goals. This will include assisting in the creation of social media content, website content, photography and film content, written content, graphic assets for digital and print distribution, and playing a key role in maintaining brand standards while coordinating logistical details for multi-pronged campaigns.
The incumbent will also collaborate with internal and external partners and stakeholders, increasing awareness of Hart House while maintaining and building community connections.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 09 -- $66,715. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $85,319. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
