Ottawa Riverkeeper is seeking a Water Quality Assistant to work with our science team.

  • Start Date: June 3, 2025 End Date: September 1, 2025
  • Hourly Wage: $21.00/hr
  • Hours: 37.5 hrs/week
  • Applicants are encouraged to apply, where possible, before February 7th as interviews will begin February 10th onwards

What you will do

As Water Quality Assistant you will lead and coordinate the collection, analysis, and publication of recreational water quality data in the watershed. This will include: 

  • Conducting on site water quality testing, including travel to local beaches to complete regular monitoring activities
  • Collecting and analyzing water samples in our Learning Lab
  • Collaborating with the Communications Team to inform the public about water quality
  • Ensure that Swim Guide, an app used by the public throughout the summer, is updated promptly and the information presented is accurate
  • As a key team member during our busiest season, this role may involve working on various summer projects including outreach, communications and events

You are energetic and passionate about the environment and have the desire to protect it! For further success in the role, you also have:

  • The ability to communicate effectively in both French and English
  • A valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle
  • A highly organized and detail-oriented work style, with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work weekends

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects, timelines and deadlines in a fast-paced and responsive environment
  • Strong time management skills
