Job Details
Reporting to the Senior Operations and Grants Manager, the Data Manager will support the design and implementation of efficient data management systems, ensure data accuracy and security, and analyze data to support organizational priorities and activities.
The Data Manager will ensure that OLTA's data about member organizations, supporters, events and programs and other initiatives are organized for optimal use. They will develop dashboards, customized reports and scorecards, and build compelling narratives, and actionable insights based on their data analysis to enhance the quality of OLTA’s initiatives.
The Data Manager will collaborate and coordinate with other OLTA team members on organizational and program data needs, and work with them to ensure best practices for high-quality, clean data. The Data Manager will also be responsible for supporting Program Managers with a data-informed and data-driven program tracking and evaluation processes.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
The Data Manager will:
Manage organizational databases and systems
Oversee the data input process, ensuring conformity to best practices, as well as established internal processes
Maintain instructional materials (manuals) for primary databases
Implement strategies for data storage, archival, and retrieval
Create and document data processes and data-related policies
Execute data integration and migration projects
Help protect digital databases and archives from security breaches and data losses
Work with OLTA’s IT team to address technical issues, implement updates, and optimize data storage and retrieval
Improve data collection and reporting systems by studying current practices, designing modifications, and implementing change within the organization
Suggest new ways to analyze and utilize data in line with organizational and program priorities
Partner with stakeholders to generate insights through data analysis, and prepare comprehensive reports
Other Responsibilities:
Work with OLTA staff on program administrative requirements, as required and necessary
Provide support to the other OLTA staff and projects, as required
Other duties, as assigned
Experience:
Post-secondary education in computer science, information technology, data science, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proven success in data management (e.g., collection, modeling, quality assurance, analysis, and distribution)
Expertise in database management systems
Knowledge of data governance principles and compliance standards
Excellent grasp of data structures and interaction between applications and data
An analytical mindset and strong problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as collaboratively as part of a team
Ability to prioritize and manage several different and varied tasks simultaneously and meet tight and often competing deadlines
Ability to work outside regular business hours on some occasions
Other Requirements:
Access to a home office workspace
Must have access to high-speed internet and adequate bandwidth, as working from home will be required most of the time
Employment Type:
This is a part-time position 18 hours per week until March 30, 2026 with opportunities for extension. The position is based at the OLTA office in downtown Toronto (currently remote working within Ontario). Hours are flexible around core hours, occasional travel within Ontario will be expected.
