Job Summary
The We Shine Crew is a Goodwill social enterprise that exclusively employs people with a variety of abilities to provide janitorial services within our facilities. Reporting to the We Shine Crew Program Coordinator, we are looking for an enthusiastic, service-driven individual to work with the We Shine Crew to provide training and coaching for individuals whose goal is to become as independent as possible in their work within the community. The Supervisor will support individuals so they can progress and learn how to perform their jobs safely, accurately, efficiently and successfully. The Supervisor will lead the cleaning duties with We Shine Crew team in a warehouse setting, ensuring the highest standards of cleaning are maintained. The role of the Supervisor is to focus on the quality completion of all cleaning tasks while supporting the We Shine Crew team members in becoming as independent as possible.
The successful candidate will be someone who is a self-starter and is willing to work alongside team members. This role requires supervision and mentorship of a team of individuals with disabilities. As such, someone who is patient, kind, compassionate, empathetic and possesses an inclusive mindset would be an ideal fit.
What you'll be doing:
Training team members on how to complete cleaning tasks in an effective and efficient manner.
Supporting and mentoring team members to ensure cleaning tasks are completed thoroughly.
Performing general maintenance tasks such as the assembly and repair of store fixtures, painting, and other duties as required.
Operating heavy duty cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, pressure washers, or other cleaning equipment.
Responsible for providing after-hours support to team members at various locations in and around the City.
Providing individuals constructive feedback to enhance employee productivity and efficiency.
Acting as a positive role model in all stakeholder interactions, demonstrating appropriate work behavior and communicating effectively in a professional manner.
Performing cleaning tasks, as required:
Mopping, sweeping and vacuuming work areas.
Emptying garbage receptacles and moving garbage.
Wiping windows and walls within the buildings
Cleaning and sanitizing washrooms (sinks, toilets and floors).
Sanitizing frequent touch points such as door handles, light switches and water fountains.
Cleaning and sanitizing eating areas.
Other duties as required.
Ensuring cleaning products are replenished as needed.
Implementing and maintaining, health and safety practices and procedures, in collaboration with relevant Health & Safety team.
Ensuring team members are aware of the protocol and equipped with the knowledge to respond appropriately in the event of an emergency.
Ensuring the employer is knowledgeable regarding any safety and/or evacuation assistance the individual may require and preparing a plan for any assistance that may be required during an emergency.
Acting as an ambassador for Goodwill to build strong relationships with employers to help facilitate program growth.
Filling in for team members within the We Shine Crew, if they are absent, by performing the team member’s assigned duties.
What you bring to the table:
1-2 years of experience cleaning industrial and office spaces.
1+ years experience in a supervisory role an asset
A keen interest to work with individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Valid Standard First Aid Certificate, an asset.
Must pass a criminal record check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
Must have reliable transportation to travel to and from various worksites within the region.
Dependable and reliable.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to lift items weighing in excess of 10 Kilograms (22lbs) on a regular basis.

Working Conditions
Work sites include office buildings or industrial environments, with exposure to dust, allergens and noise.
Must be able to lift objects up to 10 Kilograms (22lbs) on a frequent basis and perform repetitive tasks.
