The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I•SPARC) is a provincial organization established for the purpose of improving the health outcomes of Indigenous people by supporting and encouraging physically active individuals, families, and communities. The programs and services delivered by I•SPARC are designed to build capacity and increase access to sport, recreation, and physical activity in First Nations, Aboriginal Friendship Centres, Métis Chartered Communities, schools, and other delivery agencies throughout British Columbia. 
 
General Description 
I•SPARC is seeking a candidate to fill the following full-time position: Manager, Sport Development and Community Engagement. Reporting to the Director of Sport, the primary role of the Manager, Sport Development & Community Engagement is to lead I∙SPARC’s team of six Regional Sport and Physical Activity Coordinators as they fulfill regional sport development priorities through the coordination of youth sport development camps, coaching certification courses, and officials training in Indigenous communities inclusive of First Nations, Friendship Centres, Métis Chartered Communities, and schools throughout their region. The Manager, Sport Development & Community Engagement also plays a central role in supporting relationship-building with sport partners and engagement processes with I•SPARC’s Regional Action Teams, communities, and sport/physical activity partners to advance the design, promotion, delivery, and evaluation of quality community-based sport development programs and resources that meet the unique needs of Indigenous people and communities. 
 
Competencies and Requirements 
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience in leading and supervising teams to achieve organizational objectives; and planning and maintaining work systems and procedures that enable and encourage the optimum performance of a team and its resources. Other qualifications include: 
 
Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline 
Applied knowledge of Indigenous community issues 
Work experience in the areas of sport, physical activity and recreation 
Management experience in a team-oriented environment 
Demonstrated ability to lead others; employee coaching and development skills 
Experience in event coordinating and project management 
Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills 
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others 
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills 
Exceptional organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications  
Able to work independently with limited supervision  
Available to travel as needed (requiring a flexible work schedule, access to vehicle, valid driver’s license) 
Successful completion of criminal record and vulnerable sector checks 
 
Term: Permanent full-time employment 
Salary: Annual salary range is $61,200 -$68,000; incl. comprehensive benefits and vacation package 
Location:  Ability to work remotely from within BC, or potential to identify office space in a location central to the successful candidate. Position does require occasional travel.
