We open doors for youth and prevent adult homelessness. We serve at-risk youth experiencing homelessness, aging out of care, or fleeing violence in the home. Young adults who need a place to call home and people who believe in them. We offer safe housing, community, and support to help youth make healthy choices and shift toward a brighter future.
Position Overview:
The Youth Housing Support (YHS) position will be the primary contact person for youth within PKOLS House. The goal of the program is to provide housing and support for youth who are MCFD involved. The role of staff is to support youth in a housing setting to settle, manage stressors and potential crisis while supporting to focus on individual goals for the following day. This position will work in a team environment utilizing a holistic approach to support each youth's individual needs around mental health, life skills, community supports, housing and other identified areas.
These are four permanent, full-time positions.
Shifts Available:
Monday through Wednesday and alternating Thursdays, 8:00am-5:00pm
Monday through Wednesday and alternating Thursdays, 5:00pm-12:00am
Friday through Sunday and alternating Thursdays, 8:00pm-5:00pm
Friday through Sunday and alternating Thursdays, 5:00am-12:00am
The hourly wage is $25.49-$29.55 per hour dependent on experience and related skills. The successful candidate can expect to enter the organization no higher than the midpoint of the compensation range.
Education & Experience
• A relevant bachelor's degree, such as Social Work or Child & Youth Care
• Minimum of 1-2 years' experience working with vulnerable populations and at-risk youth. Other combinations of education, experience and training may be considered;
• Experience facilitating programming is an asset;
• ASIST training and NVCI training is an asset.
Working Conditions
• Operates mainly out of PKOLS House, will cover shifts at other Threshold locations with notice
• Threshold will provide a yearly training and professional development allowance
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a wraparound care team
Special Requirements
• Emergency First Aid certificate
• Food Safe Certificate
• Immunization records, including TB testing and COVID 19 Vaccinations
• Clear MCFD Criminal Record Check
• Agree and follow our policies and processes
