Position Overview
Reporting to the National Executive Director, the Director of Development & Major Gifts for Quebec will be primarily be responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of 60-80 major gift donors and prospects (gifts ranging from $10K to $1M+). The candidate will also manage and steward under $10K annual gifts from Quebec.  This role is central to advancing Technion Canada’s mission by building strong relationships, generating impactful contributions, and strategically expanding our donor base within Quebec.

Key Responsibilities

A. Major/Top Gift Fundraising

  • Portfolio Management: Develop a comprehensive portfolio strategy, segmenting donors into cold leads, warm leads, and active prospects expected to make significant gifts within 12 months.
  • Individual Strategies: Design and execute tailored cultivation and solicitation plans for each major donor prospect.
  • Collaboration: Partner with staff, board members, volunteers, and current donors to identify new prospects and implement cultivation or solicitation strategies.
  • Engagement Activities:
    • Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors through personalized, direct engagement (non-event based).
    • Conduct research to develop targeted donor strategies.
    • Build meaningful relationships with donors and prospects.
    • Plan and coordinate parlor meetings hosted by volunteers or donors.

B. Stewardship and Recognition

  • Oversee all stewardship and recognition activities for donors across all giving levels, ensuring a meaningful and personalized donor experience.

C. Montreal Council Management

  • Manage the Montreal Council, a group of dedicated volunteers committed to raising awareness and funds for Technion.
  • Partner with key Board Members in your region to cultivate and solicit new donors.

D. Event Planning and Execution

  • Develop and implement an annual event strategy for Quebec, encompassing in-person and virtual events.
  • Responsibilities include creating invitations (in partnership with Marketing), promoting events, securing sponsorships, recruiting volunteers, and executing post-event follow-up.

E. Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the fundraising team to support overall strategy and operations across donor levels.
  • Contribute to achieving goals outlined in the Strategic Plan and adopt a metrics-driven approach to success.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in major gift fundraising, with a demonstrated track record of securing gifts in the $10K-$1M range.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage donors effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of the Montreal and greater Quebec community.
  • Interest in Israel, higher education, and advancements in science, technology, medicine, and engineering—or a willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems such as Donor Perfect or similar tools.
  • Event planning and project management experience is an asset.
