Location: Mississauga

Wages: $33.00/hour for 40 hours/week

Scope

Working as part of the management team, you will supervise a team of Settlement Counsellors, Resettlement Caseworkers, and a Group Facilitator in the operations and execution of settlement and case management services for newcomers and refugees upon their arrival to Canada. This includes the provision of immediate and essential services like needs assessments, orientations, and regular follow-ups to ensure that newcomers and refugees are engaged, and participate in programs that address their needs. Under the direction of the Programs Manager, you will oversee the quality and delivery of services, preparing reports, supervising staff, maintaining required documentation, ensuring the team is meeting all program requirements as per the Organization’s set goals and targets, and representing Polycultural in a professional manner at all times.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the settlement and case management teams
  • Assist in the hiring, training, and supervision of staff and volunteers
  • Ensure proper staffing of the settlement and case management teams
  • Responsible for approving timesheets and requests for time off
  • Participate in network meetings with government departments, community organizations, and other service providers
  • Coordinate with community partners, utilizing existing partnerships and establishing new connections with local service providers to effectively respond to refugees' needs
  • Contribute to the development of organizational frameworks in the following areas: standardize program outcomes, deliver quality and timely program outputs, research immigration trends and gaps
  • Monitor, collect, review, and prepare statistical and narrative reports, ensuring accuracy through relevant databases and sources
  • Supervise administrative procedures to meet program objectives, HR policy, and Collective Agreement
  • Ensure that staff and volunteers follow proper professional and ethical conduct when dealing with clients, and offer guidance to ensure quality of service is maintained
  • Coach, motivate, and supervise staff performance and administer disciplinary action in a timely manner
  • Conduct performance reviews and take all needed actions to remedy identified issues
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings as needed
  • Prepare funding proposals as directed by the Programs Manager
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • University degree in Social Work, Psychology, Management, Counselling, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Certificate in project management or PMP designation would be an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • At least three years of experience in supervising staff
  • Second language is an asset (French, Arabic, Swahili, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Spanish)
  • Strong knowledge of the social and community services sector, settlement/resettlement programs
  • Experience in supervision and program coordination and delivery
  • Experience supervising in a unionized environment is an asset
  • Proven management experience with demonstrated capacity to manage a small team in a high performance environment
  • Proven ability to lead and promote a positive and professional team culture
  • Proven program management experience and demonstrated ability to deliver program outcomes on time and to a high standard
  • Ability to work independently and on a flexible schedule
  • Strong knowledge in using computer software, including MS Office
  • Excellent writing skills, including report writing
  • Strong knowledge in navigating databases, extracting, and analyzing data

 

Other requirements

  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check (completed when offer is made)
