Job Title: Youth Development Program Lead

Based at: Brightwood Ranch

Reports to: Camp Director

Hours of work: 4-month paid position - May-August

Salary: $1800/month + room & board*

Start Date: May 5th, 2025

Status: Contract Position ending August 22nd, 2025

Our Mission: Because of the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ, Hope Mission exists to serve the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those in search of help, healing, and hope.

Our Facility: We are located on 220 acres of rolling hills one hour west of Edmonton. We offer 6-day overnight camps for children and youth ages 6-17. Activities include archery, riflery, zipline, climbing wall, petting zoo, horsemanship, bike trails/pump track, laser tag, and wide games. All cabins have shower and bathroom facilities.

Job Summary: This leadership position is responsible for all development, implementation, and supervision of the Crew Youth Program. You will get the chance to disciple and be a role model to the youth while leading them in spiritual growth, camp activities, Bible studies, and service projects.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, supervise, and implement all areas of youth programs (wide games, skills, activities, challenges, Bible studies, campfires, dining hall dismissals, and chapel).
  • Develop and execute Crew program in conjunction with camp yearly theme (May and June).
  • Conduct meetings with the Crew throughout each week of camp.
  • Keep Crew accountable for service projects and leadership character.
  • Assist in chapels, campfires, and service projects.
  • Assist program lead in second month (Crew runs 4 weeks - first month).
  • Sleep in cabin with Crew.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Servant leadership attitude.
  • Confidence giving instruction to a large group of youth and counsellors.
  • Creative problem-solving.
  • Works well with others in a team environment.
  • Fun, high-energy, and quick thinking/response time.
  • Passion for youth and children.
  • At least 2 years of previous experience working with youth in some avenue.
  • Able to live on site in community for four months (May through August).
  • Drivers' license is an asset.
  • Punctuality.
  • Good physical health - for wide games, skill-building activities, and walking distances.
  • Previous camp experience is an asset.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
  • Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset.
  • Adherence to Hope Mission's policies and procedures.

*Every returning staff member receives a $200/month raise. All staff that complete the full 7 weeks of camp and 2 weeks of training receive a $1000 bonus at the end of the summer.
