Salary: $1200/month + room & board*

Status: Contract Position ending August 22nd, 2025

Our Mission: Because of the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ, Hope Mission exists to serve the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those in search of help, healing, and hope.

Our Facility: We are located on 220 acres of rolling hills one hour west of Edmonton. We offer 6-day overnight camps for children and youth ages 6-17. Activities include archery, riflery, zipline, climbing wall, petting zoo, horsemanship, bike trails/pump track, laser tag, and wide games. All cabins have shower and bathroom facilities.

Job Summary: As a member of our summer staff 2025, you will play a meaningful role in creating a life-changing summer camp experience for many vulnerable and at-risk youth and children. Throughout the summer, you will have the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles, such as camp counselling, kitchen help, maintenance hand, activity leading, custodial cleaning, and office help. In every weekly position assigned you have the chance to be a role model as campers tackle challenges like the climbing wall, bike track, and horsemanship, to share laughs during improv sessions, or discover new strengths. This role is more than just a job; it is a chance to make a lasting impact on young lives, create memorable experiences, and show the love of Jesus through every capacity that camp work entails.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervision, care, and engagement of a cabin of 8-10 campers accompanied by another 1-2 staff.
  • Facilitate a Bible study/reflection time for your cabin.
  • Lead/co-lead activities throughout the camp week (training provided).
  • Participation and leadership in games, challenges, camp rotations, focus skills, Bible times, chapels, campfires, and other activities.
  • Behavioural management and de-escalation of campers.
  • Sleep in cabins with campers.
  • Assist in the kitchen with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup when assigned.
  • Maintain and clean camp facilities to ensure a safe and welcoming environment when assigned.
  • Support activity areas like archery, horseback riding, climbing wall/zipline, or bike pump track, ensuring camper safety and engagement.
  • Perform maintenance tasks to keep campgrounds and equipment in excellent condition when assigned.
  • Contribute to the overall success of camp operations by helping in various support roles as needed.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Servant leadership attitude.
  • Creative problem-solving.
  • Works well with others in a team environment.
  • Flexible, fun, high-energy, and quick thinking/response time.
  • Passion for working with children and youth.
  • Able to live on site in community for two months (July and August).
  • Drivers' license is an asset.
  • Good physical health - for wide games, skill-building activities, and walking distances.
  • Previous camp experience is an asset.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
  • Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset.
  • Adherence to Hope Mission's policies and procedures.

*Every returning staff member receives a $200/month raise. All staff that complete the full 7 weeks of camp and 2 weeks of training receive a $1000 bonus at the end of the summer.
