Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

The Role: 

GCA is currently seeking a Speech Language Pathologist who will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting children and youth with and an Autism diagnosis and their families. The SLP will support families by conducting assessments, create individualized plans that address need, and provide consultation to the child/youth and family on how to implement strategies as suggested in the plan.

What your Day Looks Like: 

  • Conduct assessment and collaborate with families to develop a comprehensive plan that addresses the needs of the child/youth as it relates to the realm of speech and language including evaluations, assessments, and individualized intervention reports.
  • Provide educational services to staff and agencies/stakeholders to support individuals with autism.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy sessions in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team (RBAs, OT, Instructor Therapists)
  • Program and service development and evaluation for SLP services.
  • Attends, contributes, advocates and informs at Core meetings, and others as appropriate. 
  • Provide any related resources to clients as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you Bring to the Role:

  • Graduate degree in Speech and Language Pathology
  • Registered with the College of Speech Pathologists of Ontario
  • 1 year work experience in a similar role 
  • Previous experience working with children with developmental disabilities and/or Autism an asset. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of early childhood education, autism and applied behaviour analysis 
  • Knowledge and application of the SLP framework, philosophy and theory, administration and interpretation of standardized and non-standardized assessments, knowledge of development (typical/non-typical), of augmentative communication/writing assessments, intervention strategies application of technology, and of appropriate SLP intervention strategies and techniques. 
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills. 
  • Good data collection, filing and report writing skills. 
  • Demonstrate strength as a team player. 
  • Able to work independently.  
  • Effective problem solving and judgement skills 
  • Superior organizational and time management skills 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites  
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening 
  • Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 

 

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work independently
  • Able to bend, stoop and lift child to adult height (up to 20 kg)

Salary: $83,095-$93,316
