Work Schedule: Casual shifts available Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. Flexibility required.

About Us

The Pacifica Treatment Centre Society is dedicated to providing compassionate and effective care to individuals dealing with concurrent disorders. We are looking for a skilled and passionate Casual Counsellor to join our interdisciplinary team. If you have a master's degree in a behavioral health discipline and experience in substance use treatment, we want to hear from you!

Your Role

As a Casual Counsellor, you will:

  • Provide individualized and group counselling, psycho-educational sessions, and clinical assessments.
  • Develop and implement treatment care plans tailored to clients' recovery and mental health goals.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including substance use and bio-psycho-social evaluations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external health, social, housing, and medical service providers.
  • Maintain accurate client records in our electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to program planning and development.
  • Engage in professional development to stay current with best practices.

Your Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
  • Commitment to principles of equity, inclusivity, diversity, accessibility, and belonging.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and EMR systems.
  • Ability to apply various theoretical models in clinical settings (e.g., DBT, IFS, EFT, SE, AEDP).
  • Skilled in managing emergency and high-pressure situations effectively.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in counselling or social work from an accredited institution.
  • Professional registration with BCACC, CCPA, or BCCSW.
  • 1-2 years' experience in community-based or in-residence treatment for substance use and concurrent disorders.
  • Ability to provide evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination, TB screening, and annual influenza vaccination (unless medically exempt).
