Hours of Work: Ave. 40 hours per week; Days (Monday through Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

Compensation: $54,000 annually plus, a generous leave, benefits and pension package

Program & Location: Administration Office– Downtown Eastside, Vancouver

Union: BC Government Employee’s Union (BCGEU) – This position requires union membership

About the Job:

Reporting to the Executive Director, Residential Operations, the Office Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth and organized functioning the office environment. Their primary responsibilities will include answering the phone and other administrative tasks, such as managing office supplies, equipment, and facilities orders, coordinating the internal meeting schedule and ensuring the rooms are set up. They will serve as a central point of contact for employees, and visitors, handling inquiries and directing them to the appropriate staff. They will support in the office communication, disseminating information, and facilitating collaboration among team members.

 

About You:

You are a detail-oriented person who is able to prioritize and manage your time well, and are committed to attending work regularly and on time. Your enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn/grow are your most important attributes for the position. Your friends and colleagues would describe you as having strong communication skills and are great with people. You may have a year or two of experience in a customer service or other office environment, and perhaps even some formal training in administration work. You are a feminist, passionate about the work of ending violence against women and children. You embrace Atira’s mission, vision, values and philosophy. You have a well-developed understanding of and commitment to anti-oppression work and intersectionality. You are familiar with colonialism especially as it applies in Canada and you understand the impact of the residential school system.

 

 

Additional Requisites/Assets:

•                 Demonstrated ability to type 70 words per minute.

•                 Ability to remain calm and de-escalate others during high-pressure situations.

•                 Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

•                 Ability to organize work and carry out duties of the position with independence.

•                 Ability to deal effectively with others and demonstrated teamwork skills.

•                 Ability to work under pressure and manage stress.

•                 Ability to work effectively with program staff, and not-for-profit or publicly funded groups, agencies and organizations

•                 Computer literacy, including but not limited to:

•                         Proficient in Microsoft 365, including Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Excel

•                         Proficient in Canva

•                 All positions are subject to a criminal records review

•                 Covid-19 (Including Booster) and annual flu vaccinations are recommended

Qualifications:

           Completion of Grade 12, plus related post-secondary courses in Office procedures.

           One (1) year recent related experience in office environment

           Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
