Company Description Riseup Society Alberta is a registered charity dedicated to providing support, counseling, and resources for individuals impacted by intimate partner violence (IPV). We also strive to educate individuals and community groups about preventing and addressing IPV through psychoeducational presentations and community initiatives.
Role Description We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Therapist for a 4-day-per-week contract position (30 hours per week). The therapist will provide individual counseling and resources to individuals impacted by IPV. This on-site role requires working two days each at The Today Centre and enCompass Community Safety Agency in Edmonton, AB.
Key Responsibilities
Provide trauma-informed therapy to clients who have experienced IPV.
Establish and review therapeutic goals with clients, adapting as needed.
Empower clients with strategies to address their concerns and build resilience.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records, progress notes, and treatment plans.
Collaborate with other Riseup therapists and external professionals to optimize client care.
Refer clients to additional community resources when necessary.
Adhere to ethical standards as outlined by the therapist’s professional regulatory body.
Participate in monthly in-person staff meetings and training sessions.
Support Riseup Society Alberta’s special events and fundraising activities as needed.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
Registration with a relevant professional regulatory body in Alberta.
Proficient in treatment planning, case management, and individual therapy.
Experience in social work and mental health counseling, particularly with trauma and IPV.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and IPV dynamics.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and independently.
Contract Details
12-month contract with the potential for renewal, pending funding.
