Position Overview

Are you passionate about helping newcomers build successful lives in Canada? We’re looking for a newcomer Life Skills Coach to lead impactful one-on-one and group sessions, guiding clients as they develop essential skills for adapting to their new environment. In this role, you’ll help clients with key areas such as communication, financial literacy, employment readiness, and cultural adaptation, all while fostering confidence and independence. Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will use a strengths-based approach to support multi-barriered clients in adapting to life in Canada. This includes planning and facilitating workshops, activities, and community outings focused on building resilience, inclusion, and independence. The coach will collaborate with Case Managers, advocate for newcomers, and coordinate support services like transportation and childminding. Additionally, they will build community partnerships, maintain accurate records, ensure data privacy, and apply Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+) principles to help clients achieve their goals.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a have a Bachelor’s Degree or relevant education and experience in social services or life coaching, with a background in working with newcomers or vulnerable populations. A Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable vehicle are preferred, and a Level 1 First Aid certificate is an asset.

Key skills include client-centered assessment, curriculum development with a culturally sensitive approach, strong interpersonal communication, and group facilitation. The candidate should have problem-solving abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Flexibility and the willingness to work outside regular hours are essential. Additional language skills are a plus.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
