About the Position:

The Residence Night Worker supports the safe operations of the facility during the night. The Residence Night Worker is also responsible for ensuring the well-being and comfort of clients in the facility. 

 

Reports to: Residence Care Manager

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitors clients throughout the night and responds to any medical or behavioural needs which may arise
  • Reacts to emergency situations by reporting to appropriate authorities and following established policies and procedures
  • Observes and monitors clients within the facility for safety and reports unsafe conditions, behaviours, and cognitive changes to the supervisor
  • Enforces the house rules and evening curfew rules
  • Reminds clients to take prescribed medication as needed 
  • Performs limited food preparation such as heating food, serving snacks and drinks if needed
  • Conducts light housekeeping duties such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming, dusting, washing, laundry and wiping
  • Supports building maintenance activities by completing light repair duties such as changing lightbulbs
  • Checks and replenishes supplies such as personal care items, first aid items, and housekeeping items
  • Maintains documentation such as logbooks, reports, statistics, and records on clients
  • Participates in the assessment, goal-setting, and program planning for clients living on the property
  • Other related duties as required by the Residence Care Manager  

Education, Training & Experience:

  • Minimum completion of Grade 12
  • Graduation from a recognized Resident Care Attendant program or Home Support Worker program
  • Certificates in CPR, First Aid, and Food Safe
  • Registered with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
  • Minimum of 1 year recent related experience and/or training
  • Experience with a multicultural clientele 

Job Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to operate equipment and tools necessary to fulfil the duties of the position
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Ability to communicate in Chinese (any dialects) is considered an asset
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
