Summary:
Health Bridge is looking for a dynamic team player with a strong background in global health
and project management. Health Bridge is a non-profit, non-governmental Canadian
organization working to improve health and health equity through research, policy, and
action, particularly in developing countries. The Project Manager will oversee a new health
system strengthening project in Bangladesh, Nepal and Vietnam. The Project Manager will
also identify and develop new partnerships and opportunities for the growth and
development of HealthBridge by identifying new funding opportunities and developing new
projects in priority health areas in keeping with the mission of Health Bridge.


About the Role:
The project manager will play a leadership role in overseeing a new multi-year project
funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC). The position involves working closely with the
Program Manager and other colleagues at HealthBridge and with local implementing
partners to ensure the implementation of the project and the achievement of its desired
outcomes. The project manager will play a vital role in this project which aims to build
resilient health systems to improve health outcomes in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Vietnam
for women, adolescents and children along the continuum of comprehensive integrated
sexual reproductive health services including maternal and child health, and nutrition.
Key

Responsibilities and Tasks:


Project Management:
The project manager will oversee the management of the Resilient Health Systems (RHS)
project, working closely with the Health Bridge project team.

Specific tasks include:
• Work closely with local partners and colleagues at Health Bridge to ensure the
project is implemented effectively, in keeping with timelines, aligns with best
practices, and contributes to improved health and health equity.
• Collaborate with local partners and project staff to develop detailed project work
plans, strategies, and approaches to meet the health needs of the local community
in keeping with the project objectives.
• Provide technical guidance to partners (as needed and as appropriate) on matters
pertaining to the project including gender equality, health systems strengthening,
nutrition, and sexual, reproductive, maternal and child health.
• Conduct in-country site visits to develop relationships with partners and
stakeholders, assess project progress, offer hands-on support to local partners, and
collaboratively address emerging challenges and plan next steps.
• Assist with the development and undertaking of project monitoring and evaluation.
• Coordinate and oversee the activities of the Health Bridge staff team on the project,
including interns.


Grant management and project administration:
• Act as a liaison between the project donor and local implementing partners.
• In collaboration with the staff team, ensure the timely preparation and submission
of donor technical and financial reports, ensuring all requirements and deadlines
are met.
• Ensure compliance with all Health Bridge and donor policies and procedures.
• Manage overall project budget expenditures, develop forecasts and provide
guidance to partners on budgetary matters.
• Oversee negotiation of contract agreements and amendments with partners,
donors and consultants.
Program Development:
• Support program development at Health Bridge, including identifying new funding
opportunities and partnerships, and developing projects and proposals in the
priority health areas of HealthBridge.
• Support the development of communication material for Health Bridge, including
materials highlighting project impact which can be shared with the public, and the
development of abstracts and publications for varied audiences.
• Represent HealthBridge at meetings and conferences as requested.
• Supervise interns and practicum students, to support the capacity development of
the next generation in global health.


Education and Experience:


Essential:
• Graduate degree in a global health-related field.
• At least 5 years of experience working in the field of global health and/or
international development as a project manager and in a leadership role
• Strong knowledge of GAC policies and procedures, with prior experience managing
a GAG-funded project.
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally including to project countries.
• Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and work effectively with individuals and
teams in other countries.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada


Desired:
• Project management training and certification
• Additional language skills: French, Bangla, Nepalese, or Vietnamese.
Knowledge, Skills and other Attributes:
• Commitment to Health Bridge's mission.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to effectively
communicate to different audiences.
• Cross-cultural awareness and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to
work effectively in a multi-cultural team.
• Experience facilitating workshops and collaborative initiatives.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to write proposals and communications material.
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Word, Power Point, Excel, and
Teams.


Salary and Benefits:
Compensation range $68,000 - $75,000/annually commensurate with experience and
ability. Health Bridge offers an excellent health benefits plan and flexible working schedule.
T he position is in Ottawa but could be remote under exceptional circumstances.
