Position: Full-Time RRP Facilitator (35 hours/week)

The Program and Role:
NSRJ’s Restorative Response Program (RRP) provides a community-centered alternative to court processesand seeks to promote repair, accountability, and healing rather than punishment. It was established in 1997 and operates across North and West Vancouver. RRP responds to the harm (physical, sexual, emotional, financial) from crime or conflict by addressing root causes and providing those who caused harm an opportunity to realize the impact of their actions, make amends, and thereby reduce recidivism and prevent future harms. The RRP Facilitator will work with other RRP staff and our volunteer co-facilitators to oversee and facilitate file screening and acceptance, their resolution or de-escalation, and subsequently their proper closure.

Primary Responsibilities:
● Leading the facilitation of restorative processes while working with and mentoring volunteers who co-facilitate (50% of work)
o Facilitation includes individual meetings with those who have caused harm and those who have been harmed as well as less frequent facilitated meeting between both parties
o The meetings focus on: listening to needs, supporting access to additional resources, addressing root causes of what happened, sharing impacts, and supporting amends work.
● Administration of files diverted to NSRJ from the West Vancouver Police Department and the North Vancouver Detachment of the RCMP. This includes scheduling appointments, meeting preparation, communicating with officers and clients, and reporting and filing (50% of work)
Qualifications*:
● Familiarity with restorative processes and the principles and values of restorative justice
● Experience with facilitation (facilitating restorative justice processes an asset)
● Self-directed and comfortable working as part of a team in a collaborative work environment
● Experience in and ability to articulate anti-oppression, anti-racism, trauma-informed practices
● Strong communication skills, written and verbal
● Self-awareness and ability to acknowledge one’s biases, prejudices and triggers
● Excellent listener, intuitive

Assets:
● Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Criminology, Social Work, Psychology, or Restorative Justice
● Familiarity with community services and resources on the North Shore
● Additional languages to English (Farsi, Korean, Tagalog and Mandarin would be assets)
Benefits:
● Salary is $50,000-$55,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience

Additional Requirements:
● The ability to successfully complete police enhanced security clearance.
● Traveling to North Vancouver and/or West Vancouver as needed for on-site work.
● The ability to work remotely and meet via Zoom in a private space when not required on site.
● Willingness to work with variable schedules, including working until 6pm 2-3 times per week to accommodate youth clients after school hours.
