About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Manager of 1:1 Mentoring Programs is responsible for overseeing the delivery, growth, and development of Big Sisters BCLM’s one-to-one mentoring programs, including Big Sisters, Study Buddy, and future 1:1 mentoring initiative. This role ensures high-quality service delivery, provides leadership and support to staff, and fosters meaningful relationships with children, youth, families, mentors, and community partners.
What you will be doing:
PROGRAM OVERSIGHT & DEVELOPMENT
Oversee program operations to ensure alignment with best practices, agency goals, and funder requirements
Lead program evaluation, outcome tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives
Identify gaps in services and expand program offerings to better meet community needs
In collaboration with the team, develop internal process that strengthen program effectiveness, impact, and efficiency.
Apply a strong quality assurance lens to ensure all program processes meet or exceed expectations based on social services best practices, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada National Standards and agency policies.
STAFF SUPERVISION & SUPPORT
Supervise, mentor, and support a team of mentoring coordinators/caseworkers and program coordinators
Conduct regular team meetings, training, and case consultations
Foster a collaborative and inclusive work culture that prioritizes staff well-being
Facilitate a highly collaborative team environment to ensure consistent and high-quality experience for mentees, mentors, and families across the service delivery of the future 1:1 mentoring programs.
Coordinate regular case consultation meetings to ensure effective case management, offering mediation support or referrals, as needed.
CASE MANAGEMENT & VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT
Support Mentoring Coordinators/Caseworkers in screening, training, matching, and ongoing monitoring of mentors and mentees.
Ensure compliance with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada National Standards through regular, comprehensive quality assurance reviews of all intake processed, case management and documentation and ongoing risk assessments.
Provide guidance to staff on complex cases
Develop protocols and training materials to enhance risk mitigation and participant safety
Implement trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches to service delivery
Ensure all necessary documentation, reports, and statistics are maintained with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS & OUTREACH
Build and maintain relationships with schools, social service agencies, and community organizations to enhance program visibility, recruitment, and holistic support for Mentors, Mentees, and their families
Represent Big Sisters BCLM at sector meetings, working groups, and strategic partnerships to strengthen community engagement
Develop and deliver impactful presentations on the agency’s programs to community partners, funders, and stakeholders
Partner with the Fundraising & Partnerships team to align program needs with funding opportunities and support grant applications and sponsorship initiatives
TRAINING & PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT
Develop and implement training sessions for mentors and staff to enhance program effectiveness
Ensure programming remains aligned with emerging best practices in youth development, social work, and mentorship
Utilize feedback and evaluation results to refine program models and processes
ADMINISTRATIVE & STRATEGIC CONTRIBUTIONS
Oversee program budgets, tracking expenditures and ensuring compliance with funding agreements
Prepare program reports for funders, board members, and internal leadership
Support the Director of Programs in strategic planning and organizational growth initiatives
5-7 years of experience in program coordination, implementation, and case management for children and youth with diverse lived experiences; experience working with children/youth/families with child welfare involvement is a highly desired asset.
3-5 years of experience in program management within the child/youth sector, including community engagement, program development, implementation, iteration, monitoring & evaluation, and reporting.
Three (3)+ years of experience in staff leadership and supervision.
1–2 years of experience in volunteer coordination and supervision.
Experience in community engagement and program evaluation, including gathering stakeholder input through surveys and focus groups (an asset).
Strong knowledge of child and youth development, volunteer management, and community-based services.
Proven organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) through continuous learning and growth.
High proficiency in CRM database management and Microsoft Office Suite.
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

This Position:
This is a permanent, full-time (35 hours/week) position reporting to our Vancouver office with a minimum of two days in office. Daytime travel and some evening and weekend work will be required which will be supported through flex / lieu time.
