Profile

CCS is seeking a passionate and experienced Project Coordinator to lead a seniors-focused initiative centered on peer education, empowerment, and abuse prevention. This project will bring together seniors from diverse backgrounds to build community, share real-life experiences, and provide mentorship to one another. The goal is to reduce isolation, enhance awareness, and support seniors in recognizing and responding to situations of abuse.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a needs assessment to identify the knowledge gaps, challenges, and strengths among participating seniors.

  • Plan and coordinate project activities, including:

    • Recruiting seniors from various cultural and community groups

    • Finding facilitators to conduct peer learning sessions that combine theoretical knowledge with lived experience

    • Organizing workshops and roundtable discussions focused on senior abuse awareness and response

  • Document the collective knowledge and resources into a final booklet or binder, highlighting shared stories, learning outcomes, and available community supports.

  • Collaborate with CCS staff, community partners, and relevant service providers to ensure inclusive and impactful programming.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Human Services, Social Sciences, Social Work, or a related field

  • Extensive experience working with seniors, particularly in educational, mentoring, or community outreach roles is an asset

  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills, with sensitivity to issues of elder abuse and cultural diversity

  • Demonstrated ability to manage community-based projects from planning to completion

  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently and collaboratively

Additional Information

  • This is a 1-year contract position based in Edmonton, Alberta

  • Some evening and weekend availability may be required depending on the needs of participating seniors
