Position Summary:

The Alternative to Detention-Community Case Management and Supervision (ATD-CCMS) program is a national program being delivered for the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in part by enCompass and John Howard Societies across the country. It is a risk-based community release program as an alternate to detention. The Community Case Manager is responsible for delivering the program including eligibility assessment, enrolment, development of a case plan, compliance reviews, and assistance to address issues that may contribute to the risk of non-compliance with the community supervision plan. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing services using a client-centred, strength-based approach consistent with agency and program philosophy
  • Conduct interviews with individuals in detention
  • Complete standardized assessments to evaluate the client’s risk and needs
  • Develop and implement a plan to address risk factors and client goals
  • Maintain knowledge of and assist clients with referrals to appropriate community service agencies
  • Through SMART Goal planning, provide ongoing support, advocacy, and intervention as required to assist client in meeting their identified goals and needs
  • Complete clear, concise reports and documentation in a timely manner
  • Maintain and monitor all file documentation as per program/agency policy
  • Ensure client file notes are maintained in the client information management system
  • Prepare reports for the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) or CBSA in a timely manner, outlining case plans as required
  • Actively pursues and collaborates productively with partners in the work site
  • Communicates information and ideas clearly, concisely and respectfully during interactions with clients, community partners and other professionals
  • Coordinate schedules with colleagues to ensure required floor coverage
  • Assist with front desk duties, including answering phones and assisting clients

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Diploma or degree in Human Services with a minimum of 2 years experience working within the adult justice system
  • Experience working with the immigrant community
  • Experience working with a client-centered, strength-based approach
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system
  • Familiar with community resources, including housing and financial resources, immigration and legal services
  • Professionalism within all aspects of employment and ability to contribute to a positive team environment
  • Assessment, interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and engagement skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a team
  • Excellent computer knowledge (Microsoft Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and video conferencing platforms)
  • Experience with client management database systems

Conditions of Employment:

  • Clear Criminal Record, Enhanced Reliability Clearance, Drivers Abstract, and Child Intervention Check; A criminal record will not disqualify you from employment with us; we evaluate each application individually 
  • Driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2,000,000 in liability insurance
  • Valid Standard First Aid/CPR
  • This position has an anticipated start date of May 5th, 2025
  • The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00AM – 4:30PM, with some flexibility required to work outside of these hours
  • The office is located in the Transition Place Building at #101, 10010-105 Street. Parking is not included with the position.
