Junior UX Designer/Strategist 

 

We are seeking a passionate Junior UX Designer/Strategist to help enhance the usability, functionality, and design of our website. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate to contribute to a meaningful project while gaining valuable experience in UX design.

 

Position Details:

  • This is an 8-week contract position funded by the Canada Summer Job Program. 
  • The position pays an hourly rate of $19.25 for a 35-hour work week. 
  • Contract Period: Monday, June 2, 2025 - Friday, July 25, 2025

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the team to identify and develop user personas based on target audience needs and behaviors.
  • Assist in analyzing and improving the website’s informational architecture to ensure intuitive navigation and content organization.
  • Conduct research to identify and resolve usability issues across the website.
  • Create low-fidelity wireframes for proposed website updates and revisions.
  • Provide design insights and feedback to improve the overall user experience.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure designs align with organizational goals and accessibility standards.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in UX/UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with user research methods, wireframing, and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of UX principles and usability best practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards is an asset.

Work Environment & Requirements:

This is a remote position. While our small team works collaboratively using shared online communication and project management tools, the successful candidate will be expected to work independently and reliably from their own home. To be eligible for this role, applicants must have access to the following:
