Job Title: Grant Writer

Location: British Columbia, Canada (Remote/Hybrid options available)

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Grant Writer with a proven track record in securing funding for charitable organizations in Canada. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in researching funding opportunities, developing compelling grant proposals, and managing the grant application process to support our organization's objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and Identify Funding Opportunities:

    • Conduct thorough research to identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources that align with the organization's mission and programs.

    • Stay informed about funding trends and priorities within the non-profit sector in Canada.

  • Grant Proposal Development:

    • Collaborate with program managers and leadership to understand organizational priorities and funding needs.

    • Craft clear, persuasive, and well-structured grant proposals tailored to specific funding requirements.

    • Ensure all proposals align with the organization's objectives and comply with grant guidelines.

  • Grant Management and Reporting:

    • Manage the entire grant application process, including drafting, editing, and submitting proposals and supporting documents.

    • Maintain accurate records of grant applications, awards, and reporting deadlines.

    • Prepare and submit timely reports to funders, detailing project progress and outcomes.

    • Pull relevant data and conduct basic analysis to support reporting, track impact, and inform future grant strategies.

  • Relationship Building:

    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders, grant agencies, and other stakeholders.

    • Serve as a liaison between the organization and funding bodies, responding to inquiries and providing additional information as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Business, Marketing, or a related field or related experience.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in grant writing for charitable organizations in Canada.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.

  • Strong research skills to identify and evaluate funding opportunities.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite and familiarity with grant management software.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Knowledge of the funding landscape in British Columbia and Canada is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in writing grant proposals for social change initiatives.

  • Familiarity with the specific challenges and opportunities within the non-profit sector in British Columbia.

  • Membership in a professional grant writing association an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

 

Salary: 30 hours, $60 000 - $70 000 depending on experience

Work Environment: Hybrid work model with flexible scheduling; occasional evening and weekend work required for events or donor meetings.
